SCAM ALERT: Fake “Jewish Holocaust Claims Center” Targeting Survivors

New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the state’s Department of Financial Services have issued a warning about a fraudulent group targeting Holocaust survivors and their families with fake compensation claims.

What’s Happening

An entity calling itself the “Jewish Holocaust Claims Center” (also seen as “Holocaust Survivors Compensation Program”) has been sending unsolicited letters to Holocaust survivors and their families, claiming their family name was identified as eligible for compensation tied to Holocaust Victim Assets Litigation.

New York’s Department of Financial Services (DFS) could not verify the identity, legitimacy, or services of this group. DFS has referred the matter to law enforcement and reported the group’s website to its hosting provider — the fraudulent site has since been taken down. Similar warnings have also surfaced from Jewish community organizations outside New York, including in Atlanta.

This one is especially cruel — it targets people who may be genuinely owed real restitution, using the hope of legitimate compensation as the hook.

Red Flags

• Unsolicited letter claiming your family name was “identified” for compensation
• References to a “Claims Resolution Tribunal” or similar official-sounding but unverifiable body
• A group name that sounds official but isn’t a known, verifiable organization
• Any request for personal or financial information before you’ve independently verified who you’re dealing with
